Thin Places, Thick Places (Series)
Day 8.
Discipline.
That word creates a gaglike-wretching feeling in my heart. Discipline equals imprisonment, right? One might bring temperament into the discussion and say that some of us are meant to be disciplined while others are, affectionately referred to as, free-spirited. I much much prefer and am predisposed to FREE-SPIRITEDNESS.
I’ve been asked a number of times, although I absolutely think people are just flattering me when they ask, “how do you do it?” I believe they are referring to…I guess I don’t really know. Which leads me to think it’s just flattery because I don’t really “DO” anything.
HOWEVER, for whatever it’s worth, here’s what’s helped me to press through my recent VERY THICK PLACES (moodiness, chaos, low-self esteem, lack of focus, chaotic household):
1. Neurofeedback
2. hiring cleaning help (yes, it’s a priority and we must sacrifice other things) (no discipline required here…)
3. ordering the meal (ingredient) service Hello Fresh, and someone in our family must make the fresh and non-processed meals throughout the week
4. Rebounding (mini-tramp) as a form of exercise (and Mat and Kitchen…a lifestyle health program), regularly. It brings sanity!
5. NO SUGAR (as much as possible, minus trixie little bits of sugar in dressings if I’m out and about, etc…)
6. taking the supplements needed (regularly) after blood tests reflect various deficiencies
7. NO SUGAR (this is a really hard one)
8. practicing my craft DAILY, even if no one reads it (hence Thin Places, Thick Places, the series)
9. cutting out all but 30 min of screen time/day (an hour if they WORK WORK WORK, first) from my kids’ lives (this makes everyone a much more pleasant person)
So, there it is. Discipline. It gets us where we need to be.
ps. all of the above steps have helped me wean from my ADD meds. I don’t take them but (maybe) once every 10 days or so now. Personal win.
To be continued…
