Thin Places, Thick Places (Series)
Day 11.
Travel Insurance and other depressing topics.
No one likes to be a “what if” king or queen. Debbie or Danny Downer. Worst-case scenario wet blanket party pooper.
Yet, there are a LOT of “what if”s that have been going through my mind as it pertains to this international adventure. Hence, hiring Agent Shades as our “what if” barrier. To a degree, of course. One person, even a well-trained one, can’t always prevent the worst-case scenario. It just helps to have an extra set of eyes, hands. and crisis management skills should there be a reason.
In addition to Agent Shades, my husband I opted to add into the international adventure a hefty travel insurance plan. If ever you aren’t worried about traveling, get a travel insurance plan. Holy smokes. Bodily injury, dismemberment, death, terrorist attacks, losing everything, etc.
Reading through the travel insurance policy felt a bit like our very recent estate planning appointment. If we both die, who would we want to raise our kids. If we’re in a coma, who would decide what to do with our life support. The list goes on. My husband and I have been NECK-DEEP in “what if”s lately. Sigh.
There’s an important and thin line between preparation and panic. Fortitude and fear. Wisdom and withering. Life/travel insurance and estate planning are a real drag unless you need them. There’s no fear in facing “what if”!!!!
All to say that we’re ready. Well, one is NEVER ready for the worst-case, but we’re as ready as we’ll ever be. Let’s hope NONE of our preparation is ever called to task.
To be continued…
